Cheapest Junk Silver Coins

90% Silver Coins and other junk silver coin, 40% Kennedy Half Dollars, Canadian 80% junk silver and more

The US Government issued 90% silver, 10% copper for most circulated coins through 1964. To save money, the US Mint was ordered to reduce the content to 40% silver for half dollar coins through 1971, while others were minted in clad alloys.

Junk silver can play an important role in your overall portfolio. Most frequently associated with preppers and old-timers, junk silver is one of the most versatile and flexible of all silver investment options for a number of reasons.

  • Junk Silver is naturally fractional. Each coin contains a well-known, fixed amount of silver that was established by the government when these coins were minted as currency.
  • Junk silver is familiar to most people as it looks similar to the current circulating coinage, but obviously much older. Spotting junk silver amongst modern clad coins becomes pretty easy once you understand how to quickly identify them by their characteristics.
  • Storing junk silver is as easy and simple as storing rolls of coins. Buying junk silver in increments of $5 for dimes and $10 for quarters and halfs allows you to easily store circulated coins in standard bank rolls.
  • Investor demand for junk silver is strong as ever. If you need cash, selling junk silver in face value increments is easy and simple. Online traders in social media trading forums quickly scoop up low premium 90% silver coins whenever it's offered.
  • It's easy to use for barter.
