Random Year Peace Dollar Silver Coin

The Peace Dollar is a significant piece of numismatic history that symbolizes the country's desire for peace following the end of World War I.

In the aftermath of World War I, the idea for a coin to commemorate the restoration of peace was first proposed by Farran Zerbe, a former president of the American Numismatic Association. This led to a movement to issue a coin to commemorate the peace, and that such a victory coin be "issued in such quantities it will never become rare".

The final design of the Peace Dollar was chosen as a result of a competition. The winning design was created by Anthony de Francisci, a young Italian immigrant and sculptor.

De Francisci's design features the profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse, modeled after his wife, Teresa. The image is a youthful and hopeful representation, looking to the future.

The reverse showcases a majestic bald eagle at rest, clutching an olive branch, with the word "PEACE" inscribed at the bottom. This design was chosen for its powerful imagery representing the nation's aspirations for peace and prosperity.

The Peace Dollar was first struck in December 1921, making it the last silver dollar minted for circulation in the United States. It was produced annually from 1921 to 1928, and then again in 1934 and 1935. The mintage of the Peace Dollar varied significantly from year to year, with over 1 million coins produced in most years, and significantly higher production in certain years, such as 1922, 1923, and 1925, reflecting the economic and political climates of the times.

Each Peace Dollar contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver in an alloy mix of ninety percent silver and ten percent copper, in order to conform with the Coinage Act of 1837.

Similar to other precious metal investments, the silver content makes them a tangible asset that can act as a hedge against inflation and currency devaluation. The market value of the silver content provides a baseline value for these coins.

These coins will be in circulated condition and the coins you receive in your order will be chosen by the dealer at random.

The market for collectible coins like Peace Dollars can also be influenced by collector interest, market trends, and economic factors. These dynamics can sometimes make Peace Dollars a more lucrative investment compared to junk silver.
