1/10 oz American Eagle Gold Coin

The 1/10 oz American Eagle Gold coin is the smallest denomination in the series, and buying from the secondary market is one the most affordable ways to capture the benefits.

Secondary market offerings of 1/10 oz American Eagle Gold coins will typically have lower premiums when compared with current year issues. Secondary market gold coins are previous year's that come from dealer buy backs and wholesale markets.

The obverse features an updated version of the famous St-Gaudens design with inscriptions for the year-date of minting.

During the 2021 mintage year, the Type 2 reverse design was introduced that features the head of an eagle. All Gold Eagle coins minted prior to the introduction of the Type 2 display a portrait of an eagle flying to his nest with stunning detail on the reverse. Both designs are frequently found amongst secondary market inventories.

American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold coins have a face value of "5 DOLLARS" , which is inscribed on the reverse along with the United States motto and the declaration of the "1/10 oz FINE GOLD".

1/10 oz American Eagle Gold Coin Highlights:

  • Minted with a full one-tenth troy ounce of .999 fine gold.
  • 22-karat gold, alloyed with a small amount of silver and copper.
  • Reeded edge.
  • $5 USD face value legal tender.
  • Backed and guaranteed by the US Mint.
  • Selected from random years based on each dealer's inventory.

Each 1/10 oz American Eagle Gold coin has a diameter of 16.5mm, and the overall gross weight is nearly .11 troy ounces, with the inclusion of small amounts of silver and copper. Dealer premiums are lower for random year 1/10 oz Gold Eagles when compared with current year issues.

While smaller coins tend to have higher premiums relative to their weight compared to larger coins, 1/10 oz gold coins are significantly more affordable, making it easier for new investors to enter the gold market without a large upfront investment.
