UniversalCoin.com Review: I took advantage of a great price on an American Gold Eagle that Universal Coin offered. It was about $44 cheaper than the online company I normally use. Unfortunately they limited it to one per household. I would have bought...
BOLD Precious Metals Review: Amazing prices, little improvement required on shipping side, but prices are good for all products, especially kilo and 100 oz silver bars. Ordered fractional gold eagle and maple leaf. Thanks for nice packing too.
1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins

The 1/2 oz Gold Eagle coin is struck in 22-karat gold, which means it contains 91.67% gold along with a small amount of copper and silver. The inclusion of these metals enhances the coin's durability and resistance to scratching or damage

The obverse highlights Augustus Saint-Gaudens' renowned depiction of Lady Liberty holding a torch and an olive branch, walking confidently with rays of sunlight in the background. This design is considered one of the most beautiful and iconic in the history of American coinage and is reminder of when the government seized gold in 1933.

There have been several minor design changes over the life of the series. It is common to notice slight variations between annual issues when buying secondary market gold eagles.

From 1986 until 1991, Roman Numerals were used for the year of minting date on the front of the coin. In 1992, the design was updated to use Arabic Numerals.

From 1986 until 2021, the reverse design depicted a male eagle carrying an olive branch to a nest containing a female eagle and their hatchlings. This design symbolizes the strength, family, and patriotism associated with American values.

Partway through 2021, the Artistic Infusion Program updated the reverse design to highlight just the head of a bald eagle, with piercing and vigilant eyes.

The reverse of both versions shows inscriptions that read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum (from many, one). It also shows the motto, In God We Trust, along with the weight (one-half oz fine gold) and legal tender face value ($25).

These factors, along with its intrinsic value contribute to its appeal and recognition among those seeking a trusted and recognizable gold investment.
