2024 Australia Kookaburra 1 oz Silver Coin

The native animals of Australia is a common theme for coins from the Perth Mint. Australia is home to a variety of unique and special species, including the Kookaburra, a member of the kingfisher family of birds.

The 2024 Kookaburra 1 oz silver coin features the dynamic and laughing bird on the reverse in flight carrying a small snake in its talons. This side includes the year-date of minting, the weight, purity and a special privy mark

The Kookaburra silver coin has been an annual issue from the Perth Mint since 1990 and is highly sought after by collectors.

The 2024 issue is the 24th coin in the series and is the first to feature a new portrait of King Charles III on the obverse. Dan Thorne, Royal Mint illustrator and coin designer created the official Commonwealth Effigy of the King that is featured on all newly minted Australian legal tender coins.

Coin Highlights:

  • Minted with one troy ounce of .9999 fine silver.
  • Obverse: left facing effigy of King Charles III.
  • Reverse: Laughing Kookaburra in flight.
  • Face Value $1AUD.
  • Limited annual mintage.
  • Perth Mint

With more than 30 years of continuous mintage history, the Kookaburra collection spans 34 coins. Throughout the decades, various portraits of Queen Elizabeth have adorned the obverse. This new release featuring the recently crowned King is certain to be an important addition to the collection.

As a limited mintage coin, Kookaburra premiums continue to rise in the years after release. The coins are issued from the mint encapsulated to protect the coins from damage. The coins are then wrapped in a plastic sleeve in quantities of twenty. Mint sealed tubes that are suitable for investors may be available from some dealers.
