The reverse also includes inscriptions identifying the year it was minted, along with the words "Krugerrand" and "Fyngoud 1 oz Fine Gold".

The Gold Krugerrand is consider legal tender even though it bears no face value as per the South African Reserve Bank Act (SARBA) of 1989.
