The Kookaburra series from the Perth Mint is one of the longest running silver and gold coin series. The 2020 release marks the 30th anniversary of this highly sought after coin program.

The Silver Kookaburra remains one of the most popular from the Perth Mint. 

Each annual release in the Kookaburra Silver coin series features an image of the famed Australian Kookaburra on the reverse of the coins.

In 2020, the mintage for the 1 oz Silver Kookaburra had an announce mintage maximum of 500,000 coins worldwide.

However, due to supply chain and manufacturing issues, the declared mintage from the Perth Mint is limited to only 375,914 coins. Collector demand continues to rise for older bullion coins.

For the 2020 release, the reverse side shows the majestic kookaburra perched on a log surrounded by ferns, vines and other forest plants. The background is an empty design field. 

The commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Kookaburra Coin series, the traditional design field is shrunken and a special effigy portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is shown above the design with the series dates of "1990-2020" inscribed.

The name of the coin ‘Australian Kookaburra,’ and the weight and purity of the silver in the coin is inscribed surrounding. The mintage date is shown as "1990-2020" to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of this coin's series release.

Each of the 2020 1 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra coins are available individually inside of protective acrylic capsules, with multiples of 10 packaged in sealed rolls and multiples of 100 in boxes containing 10 rolls of 10 coins.

2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the Australian Silver Kookaburra. The bird that is synonymous with the Australian Outback has featured on silver bullion coins of varying weights since its 1990 introduction by the Perth Mint.

On the reverse of 2020 Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins is a new design from Jennifer McKenna. On this side, a kookaburra is shown on the apex of a roof as the sun rises to greet a new day in the distance.

Rays of the sun stretch towards the edges of the coin as the kookaburra opens its beak to let out its songbird call. A special inscription along the bottom states 30th Anniversary to mark the occasion.

The obverse of 2020 1 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins bears a special design for the 30th anniversary. At the top is a small circle that features Jody Clarks latest effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Below that in the center of the coin is Stuart Devlins original 1990 image of the kookaburra that launched the program. Special date marks in the design include 1990 2020.
