Elemetal Mint

Elemetal Mint was originally known as Ohio Precious Metals (OPM) that was a private mint and precious metals refinery based in Jackson, Ohio.

The company began its operations in 1974 as a small, regional gold and silver refinery, converting scrap metals into investment-grade bullion products.

In 2012, OPM partnered with NTR Metals and Provident Metals in a collaboration that resulted in the rebranding as Elemetal LLC. The combined conglomerate aimed to integrate and streamline various aspects of the precious metals industry from refining, production, distribution, and retail.

In 2017, three former employees of NTR Metals, a subsidiary of Elemetal LLC, were indicted on charges of money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

The charges stemmed from a scheme in which NTR Metals was accused of purchasing illegally mined and smuggled gold from South America. The employees were alleged to have knowingly facilitated the purchase and processing of gold from illegal sources, including drug traffickers and criminal organizations.

As a result, Elemetal ceased operations and entered a court-approved receivership process and its assets were sold to various entities.
