Australia is known for its tremendous and unique wildlife. With the current 10th consecutive year, Australia’s Wedge-Tailed Eagle Series is back with a new design from John Mercanti, former Chief Engraver of the United States Mint.

This series from the Perth Mint is a collectors’ favorite, both for the incredible Mercanti designs and for its numismatic importance as the first-ever collaboration between a former U.S. Mint Chief Engraver and a foreign world mint.

The reverse of the 1 oz silver coin depicts the large bird of prey in full flight and silhouetted by the shining sun in the background. The coin’s obverse features the effigy of King Charles III, marking the first issue that this series has featured the King's portrait.
