Monument Metals Review: All around really a good place to do business with. Good attitude, fair pricing and good business practices. Not perfect but very good. I am made to feel like a customer here not just a walking stack of money to be grabbed.

$1 Face Value Walking Liberty Pre-1965 Half Dollars - 90% Silver

The Walking Liberty Half Dollar was issued by the United States Mint from 1916 to 1947 and is the inspiration for the obverse design of the American Silver Eagle bullion coin.

The coin was designed by well-known sculptor and engraver Adolph A. Weinman. Weinman had been an apprentice of Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the designer and sculptor for the $20 Double Eagle gold coin.

Weinman's design for the Walking Liberty Half Dollar was selected as part of a competition held by the Commission of Fine Arts in 1915 to elevate the artistic quality of U.S. coinage.

The obverse features a full-length figure of Lady Liberty in stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. The reverse design features a majestic eagle perched on a mountain crag, wings unfolded.

The Walking Liberty half dollar is widely considered one of the most beautiful American coins ever minted because it celebrates freedom, strength and the national spirit of the United States.

These coins are no longer in circulation and are sought after by collectors and silver bullion investors today. Their value is derived from today's silver spot price.
