The Silvertowne Mint was established by Leon Hendrickson in the small town of Winchester, Indiana in 1949. Today, Silvertowne is one of the country's largest and most respected dealers of rare and modern coins and privately minted precious metals.

As interest in precious metals grew throughout the 1970s, Silvertowne began minting their own unique designs that have become familiar to investors. These designs include the trademark Prospector leading his donkey and the Stagecoach 1 oz divisible silver bar along other popular favorites.

Silvertowne is responsible for minting a tremendous amount of generic 1 oz silver rounds, many based on the look of historical coins including the buffalo nickel, the morgan design and walking liberty.
