Silver Gold Bull Review: Ordered 100 American Eagles and arrived 2 days later, as stated. All in excellent shape so I reordered 100 more!
UniversalCoin.com Review: I took advantage of a great price on an American Gold Eagle that Universal Coin offered. It was about $44 cheaper than the online company I normally use. Unfortunately they limited it to one per household. I would have bought...
Silver Gold Bull Review: Their WSS 2021 American Silver Eagle Type 1 is the best deal available, by far. I've yet to have a shipment sent that wasn't packaged extremely well, and they also respond to messages quite prompty. Of all the big name...
SD Bullion Review: I have made two purchases from SD Bullion. They have a web page called Doc’s Deals and they always have special offers with reduced premiums. They also offer an introductory one ounce American Eagle at spot price, with your...
UniversalCoin.com Review: I pre-ordered 6 Silver Eagles from them at only $1.95 over spot. I wasn't sure what to expect. The coins arrived in plastic capsules fresh from the mint tubes. Everything was packed well and discreet. Shipping was included. I...

1 oz American Silver Eagle

As the official bullion coin from the US Mint, the 1 oz American Silver Eagle was created in 1986 to provide investors with a trusted store of value and wealth.

While the annual mintage varies based on investor sales demand, more than 700 million Silver Eagle Coins have been issued since 1986.

On its obverse, the coin features the timeless design adapted from Adolph A. Weinman's Walking Liberty.

The reverse design of Type-1 coins shows a heraldic eagle below 13 small stars. This classic emblem, representing the thirteen original colonies, speaks volumes of America's rich history and unwavering spirit.

The Type-2 coins, minted since mid-2021, have a new reverse design showing a vigilant eagle in flight.

1 oz American Silver Eagle Highlights

The Silver Eagle coin is struck only in 1 oz size with a nominal face value of $1. The U.S. guarantees each coin for weight and 99.9% pure silver.

In addition to the bullion version, the United States Mint issues several variations aimed at coin collectors, one with a proof finish and another with a burnished uncirculated finish. Bullion coins must be purchased through Authorized dealers, while collectors can purchase proof coins directly from the Mint.

Secondary Market Silver Eagles

Most Random Year Silver Eagles enter the secondary market through dealer buybacks and investor liquidations. These discount silver eagle coins are offered at a lower premium than those minted in the current year.

The condition of these coins is usually close to BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) condition. Sometimes, these coins show minor signs of handling, such as fingerprints, coin marks, and light scratches. However, the total intrinsic value remains.

The Silver Eagle has been produced at three mints: the Philadelphia Mint, the San Francisco Mint, and the West Point Mint. These coins are often included in Individual Retirement Account investments. With the Federal Reserve's money printing, it's never been a better time to safeguard your savings with precious metals.

Why Buy American Eagle Silver Coins?

The Liberty Coin Act authorized the American Silver Eagle coin, approved on July 9, 1985. The primary sponsors of the Act included Representative Ron Paul of Texas, a well-known advocate of sound money and a proponent of gold and silver coinage. The United States Mint certifies the silver content, weight, and purity of the Coin.

As the official bullion coin of the US Mint, Silver Eagle Coins enjoy worldwide recognition and will hold their value with a higher premium relative to silver spot price. When you buy American Eagles in random years, you acquire an asset designed to maintain its value.

Potential Numismatic Value
