Gold and Silver coins are produced in South Korea by KOMSCO, the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, a government owned corporation. KOMSCO is responsible for printing currency banknotes that circulate throughout the country.
In 2016, KOMSCO introduced the Chiwoo Cheonwang Silver Series. The series, which features beautifully designed coins themed with Korean historical warriors became an instant success with collectors and investors.
The Chiwoo series features unique designs each year with coins and medals minted in both gold and silver. The gold medallions are available in several different weights and denominations.
Limited Mintages of the Chiwoo Cheonwang series are released each year which increases demand. As a result, premiums on both the gold and silver coins continue to increase.
Fractional 1/10 oz Gold Chiwoo Cheonwang medals debuted in 2017. The medals were made available in four different colored assay cards featuring distinguishing designs.
In 2018, KOMSCO released the Korean Tiger series in silver and gold coins. The 2018 Korean Silver Tiger coin had a limited mintage of only 30,000 coins worldwide. The obverse features a Siberian Tiger walking alongside bamboo.
