In December 1865, Switzerland become of the founding members of the Latin Monetary Union, a treaty that unified several European countries on a common currency based on the French Franc bimetallism standard.
Swiss 20 Francs Gold Coins were produced by the Swiss National Mint in Bern Switzerland with a fineness of 900. The most common gold bullion coin is the Helvetia design.
