Customer Reviews

APMEX Review: Four orders completed. Another in process. No problems so far. Lots and lots of inventory items that smaller dealers will probably not have (Like pre 1933 gold dollars) Not always the cheapest but often they are. Definitely...

$5 Indian Head Half Eagle

$5 Half Eagle Incuse Indian Design

Prior to the widescale gold seizure in 1933, gold coins were the foundation of our economy. After he was elected in 1904, Teddy Roosevelt began to advocate to replace the design of the circulating gold coins.

The incuse indian design was minted from 1908 to 1916 with a legal tender face value of $5 USD. In 1929, the mint produced another batch of this coin for circulation. Each $5 half eagle coin is minted with 0.2419 troy ounces of gold.

Pre-1933 Gold Coins, such as the $5 Indian Head are minted in 90% gold to provide durability during circulation.
