Swissmint

The Swissmint is located in Bern, Switzerland and is the official mint of the Swiss Confederation. Swissmint is responsible for minting all Swiss franc coins for circulation along with commemorative coinage, collector's coins and precious metal coins for investors. Although it is a state-owned entity, the mint operates as a self-funded unit under the Swiss Federal Finance Administration.

Among its most recognized products are the Swiss Vreneli gold coins, or Goldvreneli. The Vreneli is a series of gold coins issued by Switzerland. It is also known as the Swiss Gold Franc, Helvetia, or Swiss Miss. The coins were minted in three denominations: 10, 20, and 100 francs. The most common is the 20 franc Vreneli gold coin, which contains 0.1867 troy ounces (approximately 5.8 grams) of pure gold.

The name "Vreneli" comes from Verena, a female figure often used to symbolize Switzerland, in many of the same ways the US Government is often represented with "Uncle Sam". The obverse of the coin features a bust of a Swiss maiden (Vreneli) with braided hair wearing a garland of flowers, and the reverse features a Swiss shield, surrounded by oak leaves, over a background of the Swiss Alps.

The 20 Francs Vreneli is a gold coin that was minted predominantly from 1897 to 1936 during the period when Switzerland was part of the Latin Monetary Union treaty, with additional minting in 1947 and 1949. It is considered legal tender in Switzerland but is primarily used as an investment and collector's item. The coin's popularity, high gold content, and relatively low premium over the gold price make it a preferred choice for gold investors.

The Swissmint regularly issues commemorative coins and medals to mark significant cultural, historical, and scientific events or achievements and is known for its high-quality products, technical precision, and innovative design, reflecting the tradition of Swiss craftsmanship and technology. When purchasing collectible or bullion coins, it's important to buy from reputable dealers to ensure authenticity.
