Royal Canadian Mint

The Royal Canadian Mint is a Crown corporation of Canada, responsible for the production of all of Canada's circulation coins, as well as a variety of high-quality collector and commemorative coins, gold, silver, and platinum bullion coins, medallions, and tokens. The RCM has been refining gold and silver bullion since 1911.

During the 1960s mint innovated their refining process to create 999 fine gold and in 1982, released the first .9999 fine bullion coin, the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf.

Throughout the 2010s, many of the silver coins issued by the mint suffered from a condition referred to as "milk-spotting". This was particularly apparent in the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf series. The milk spots would sometimes develop months or years after leaving the mint. It is caused by improper washing of the coins during the finishing process after minting. In 2018, MintShield was developed as a special wash at the end of the minting process and has reduced incidents of milk spotting. Due to the visual blemishes, these secondary market Milk Spotted Silver Maple Leaf coins can often be bought at a discount as they are priced primarily based on their intrinsic value and sovereign backing.

The Royal Canadian Mint is renowned for its wide range of high-quality precious metals collector coins, which are popular among numismatists and coin collectors globally for their unique designs and craftsmanship. Many of these coins are also considered to be numismatic investments.

The Royal Canadian Mint is one of the most respected and trusted mints in the world. The mint is backed by the Canadian government. The products from the mint are guaranteed for their weight and purity. Besides producing Canadian circulation coins, the Mint has also produced coins for over other 75 countries.

Gold and silver bars from the Royal Canadian Mint are recognized as Good Delivery by the LBMA, which is a mark of quality and assurance in the international bullion market. The brand hallmark on the bars stored in the LBMA vaults varies based on the refinery location and are described as: ROYAL CANADIAN MINT and MONNAIE ROYALE CANADIENNE in maple leaf logo.
